The Council for the Built Environment (CBE) is a regulatory body in South Africa that operates under the Council for the Built Environment Act. As a Schedule 3A Public Entity reporting to the National Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, the CBE plays a crucial role in ensuring that the built environment professions operate at the highest levels of integrity and professionalism. The CBE’s work encompasses a range of activities, including registration of built environment professionals, accreditation of academic programmes, development of standards, and promotion of research and development.
