The Council for the Built Environment (CBE)
The Council for the Built Environment (CBE) is a regulatory body in South Africa that operates under the Council for the Built Environment Act. The organization’s primary objective is to promote good conduct within built environment professions, advance transformation in these professions, safeguard the public’s interests, and advise the government on built environment-related issues. As a Schedule 3A Public Entity reporting to the National Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, the CBE plays a crucial role in ensuring that the built environment professions operate at the highest levels of integrity and professionalism. The CBE’s work encompasses a range of activities, including registration of built environment professionals, accreditation of academic programmes, development of standards, and promotion of research and development.
