Grahame Cruickshanks, Managing Executive: Market Engagement, Green Building Council of South Africa

A professional architect and Green Star SA Accredited Professional, Grahame has 20 years’ experience in the design and construction industry with a focus on green buildings. He has worked on a variety of Green Star SA and BREEAM certified projects and other building projects in South Africa, Singapore and the UK. Grahame now leads Market Engagement for Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) and initially joined GBCSA for the implementation of the EDGE green building rating system for homes in South Africa. Before joining the GBCSA, he focused on developing Ernst and Young’s green building capabilities in order to service clients within the framework of the EY Climate Change and Sustainability team. Grahame strongly believes that appropriately designed and constructed buildings have a vital role to play in the development of sustainable built environments. The design construction, operation and quality of the spaces in which people live, work and play, have significant financial, social and environmental impact. The development of built environments which are truly sustainable is an ambitious and long term goal which he feels must be pursued in order to address the imbalances we currently see in our planet’s ecosystems and economies
