The BIM Institute is driving dramatic improvements by developing the blueprints of the guidelines and requirements of the Building Information Modelling initiative for Africa, promoting software and digital processes to strengthening Africas built environment.
In formulating a set of guidelines to improve digital construction performance and therefore construction as a whole the BIM Institute continues to engage with early-adopter countries like the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada, where they have transformed their respective sectors in recent years using these technologies. Valuable lessons should be learnt from the key countries in these initial development phases and it is crucial to translate these into usable steps that take Africas unique strengths and challenges into account.
